My Journey in Yogasana Sports

Traymbak Sandip Mohite (Std. 12th science) | April 11th

State Level Yogasana Athlete Namaste everyone! I am Traymbak Mohite. Today, I want to share my journey in the field of Yogasana—a journey defined by highs and lows, unexpected setbacks, and the unwavering will to never give up. The Beginning and the Pandemic Challenge My journey with Yogasana started in the 5th standard. Just as I was preparing to enter the competitive arena, the pandemic hit. The lockdown caused a two-year hiatus in my formal training, but it couldn't dampen my spirit. As soon as schools reopened, I plunged back into practice with double the intensity, pushing my limits to regain and improve my flexibility. First Steps and Lessons in Perseverance In the 8th standard, I participated in my first competition. Due to a lack of experience and limited practice time post-lockdown, I didn't qualify for the next level. While disappointing, I didn't let it discourage me. I practiced harder, refined my postures, and the following year, I achieved a major milestone: I became the Gold Medalist in Thane District and qualified for my first State Level Competition. It was an eye-opening experience to see so many talented athletes, and I realized how much more I had to learn. Overcoming Injury and Staying Consistent The 10th standard is a year when many students drop sports to focus on academics. However, with the immense support of my family, I continued my practice. I qualified for the State Level again that year, gaining new friends and insights. However, progress came with its share of pain. Due to extreme back-bending routines, I suffered a lower back injury. It required medical treatment and a period of recovery, but I stayed focused. Upon joining college, my dedication only grew stronger. Recent Success Against the Odds This year has been a testament to the power of consistency. Despite having a painful heel injury during the event, I competed in the State Level Yogasana Competition and secured 4th Place in Maharashtra. While I aimed for the top spot, I am incredibly proud of this rank considering the physical challenges I faced. I am deeply grateful to my college teachers and my coach for their constant motivation and for teaching me never to back down. Why Yogasana? In a world full of popular sports like Volleyball or Kabaddi, people often ask why I chose Yogasana. To me, it is more than just a sport; it is a life-enhancer. Concentration: The focus required for Yoga has directly improved my ability to study and work efficiently. Holistic Fitness: It builds incredible flexibility, core strength, and stamina. Mental Well-being: It is a perfect remedy for stress, anger, and lack of focus. I believe everyone should try Yogasana at least once. With a proper diet, regular meditation, and disciplined practice, the positive changes in your body and mind are guaranteed. A Note of Gratitude I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my school and college teachers, my coach, and my family. Their support is the foundation of my success, and their encouragement keeps me moving forward.
